Thanks for sharing. I would also there is another element. People become Icon for their personality and vibe to. It’s not just as simple as following a formula. You need to put a tribe and take them on that journey.

I’d have to agree with Clare… there is another element. Personality is great, and I’d add that your content has to deliver for those that seek it out. You can create the greatest stuff in the world, yet if people don’t see a practical application in their life, then…..

  6. Great post, From the comments I’m not sure about personality, I can think of a few icons who have really terrible personalities but they’ve grown their business become their content is excellent, their clients get results and people trust their products.

I think trust and results are what really make an Icon.

      Hey Heather,

Thanks for your feedback and think you have a very valid point. I can think of a few people I feel like they are icons but not to wild about their personality but still follow them because of the principles they teach!

  7. Kyle,
great way to share what is important in being a great entrepreneur..

Your 5 steps resonate very well with me.. I must say that I did not follow all of them as you shared them here.. but along the way, I touched them all at some degree.

I started my business by taking huge risks and failed miserably many times.. but innovations and renewed courage got me back into the arena in no time and still kicking haha :-)

As an entrepreneurs I got to know when to take a risk and when not to do it, by following my got feeling which assured me not to hesitate much, in few seconds the proper feeling come and I listen :-)
Mind you, it was not like this easy, may, many trials and errors got me to get so great hahah :-)

Look forward to read more of your tips here, very informative.

  9. Few people realize how enormously powerful blogging is.

You really outline here exactly how a person can go from being virtually unknown to becoming an expert, authority and as you say, icon, in their field or niche. And it can happen very quickly.

As with all things, though, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. It’s important to divest yourself of some top quality training, and even coaching, to make sure that all your efforts are pointed in the right direction.

That done… you’re looking at potential for growth limited only by your imagination and consistency of action.

    Thanks for sharing Kyle!

And you really did nail you point with that first example, where one entrepreneur used paid advertising to get the word out and the other effectively marketed their expertise by authoring a book.

It really jumped out me instantly, the person with the “how to” DVD’s or digital or hard cover book etc; definitely looks more like the go to expert!

No question! That was and is a really great point! And if as you mentioned, your local news or an industry newsletter or your local or national TV station showcases you!

    Then clearly you’re the expert!

Thanks for sharing some totally excellent content!
